In fourth grade, students analyze text structure, understand themes, and identify key details in both fiction and nonfiction texts. Their writing becomes more structured with clear essays, opinion pieces, and narratives. In math, they master multiplication and division with larger numbers and solve multi-step problems. They also begin working with fractions, decimals, and place value for larger numbers. Social-emotionally, students learn to express their emotions more accurately and understand how their feelings impact their behavior. They work on navigating peer relationships, dealing with peer pressure, and resolving conflicts in a positive way.
