Second Grade

Second graders work on strengthening their reading fluency, making inferences, and comprehending a variety of texts. They write opinion pieces, informative texts, and short narratives with clear structure and correct spelling and punctuation. In math, they master addition and subtraction within 100 and begin to solve word problems, working with place value, odd and even numbers, and skip counting. Social-emotional learning continues with students focusing on managing emotions, using strategies to calm down, and developing social skills like cooperation, conflict resolution, and appropriate expression of feelings.
