Third graders focus on reading for understanding, identifying themes, and summarizing chapter books. Their writing expands to include opinion, narrative, and informational texts with supporting details. In math, they learn multiplication and division, solving problems within 100, and working with numbers up to 1,000. Students also work on self-confidence, learning to handle mistakes as opportunities for growth. Social problem-solving becomes a focus as they work on resolving conflicts independently, thinking through solutions, and evaluating outcomes.
