Principal's Message

Jaime

Welcome, Irving Elementary families, to the 2026-27 school year! We're thrilled to embark on another year of learning, growth, and community alongside you.

At Irving Elementary, our mission is driven by purpose and passion. This year, our guiding theme is "Own the Climb"—a call to action for our students and staff to own their voice, own their thinking, and own their growth. We are deeply committed to fostering academic excellence through innovative and equitable practices, empowering every student to lead a life of purpose and impact. As part of District 60's Innovation Zone, we embrace diverse and equitable learning opportunities that cater to the unique needs of all our students. We're also proud to be a Title I school, dedicated to providing comprehensive support and resources to our entire school community.

We believe that strong communication is key to student success. You can expect regular updates through our weekly messengers, and we encourage you to connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Class Dojo for real-time announcements and glimpses into daily school life. Our active PTSO is another vital part of our school, and we encourage all families to get involved and help us create a vibrant school environment.

To ensure every student thrives as they "Own the Climb," we offer a robust system of support. Through our MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) process, we provide targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities. Our Exceptional Student Services and Gifted and Talented programs are designed to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, offering personalized support and challenging curricula.

Beyond academics, we believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals. Students have exciting opportunities to get involved through our Student Council, H.E.A.T. 5th Grade Leadership Group, Battle of the Books, and Science Fair. We also value our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club, which brings even more enriching experiences to our students. Get ready for engaging events that allow students to be active in our school!

We look forward to a successful and inspiring year of climbing to new heights together. Thank you for being an essential part of the Irving Elementary family!

Warmly,

Jaime Schwab, Principal
