D60 selected for Denver Broncos Attendance Network

Reinforcing our mission to prepare students to be Present, Powerful and Empowered by Reading, District 60 has been selected as one of a limited number of Colorado districts to participate in the Denver Broncos Attendance Network.

This two-year initiative, led by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) in partnership with the Denver Broncos Foundation and Attendance Works, will provide expert coaching, professional learning and opportunities for statewide collaboration to help more students attend school regularly and succeed.

"Ensuring that every student arrives at school on-time and ready to learn each day remains our priority in D60, as we know students cannot learn if they are not in school," said Superintendent Dr. Barbara Kimzey.

"Our work over the last two years to ensure every student's daily attendance has resulted in a measurable difference. Over the past two years, we have reduced chronic absenteeism from 43% to 38%, below our pre-pandemic rate. The collaborative work of our community partners, staff, and families serves as the foundation for even further reductions moving forward.

"Being selected for the Denver Broncos Attendance Network provides us a unique and powerful opportunity to build on that momentum. Our staff looks forward to working with the Broncos, our community partners, our families, and the Colorado Department of Education in ensuring that all of our students in D60 are present, powerful, and empowered by reading!"

Chronic absenteeism remains a significant barrier to student success, making consistent attendance and engagement more important than ever. The Denver Broncos Attendance Network supports Colorado’s Every School Day Matters campaign, which has a statewide goal of reducing chronic absenteeism by 50% from its pandemic high.

Participation in the network is by invitation only, recognizing districts committed to strengthening student attendance through collaboration, innovation and evidence-based practices.

For D60, this partnership provides additional tools and support to help remove barriers and ensure every student feels connected, supported and ready to learn.

Over the next two years, D60 leaders and school teams will have access to:

  • Expert coaching from attendance specialists
  • Professional learning for district and school teams
  • Collaboration with other Colorado districts working toward the same goal
  • Evidence-based strategies and resources to strengthen attendance and engagement

For D60, being selected for the Denver Broncos Attendance Network is an important recognition of the work already underway to improve attendance, while providing our schools with additional tools and expertise to take that work even further.
