Second graders at Irving Elementary are not only Present, Powerful and Empowered by Reading — they are now published authors.
Bullpups in the classrooms of Mrs. Fischer, Ms. Lucero and Ms. Martinez put their creativity and literacy skills on full display by creating three original hardcover books. Students submitted stories and artwork centered around the themes “My Opinion Counts,” “Favorite Animals” and “Women of Our Lives.”
To celebrate the milestone achievement of becoming published authors, the young writers were honored with certificates and a snack-filled reception.
